Tranquil woodland garden open to the public all year round for walks, drink and food

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is located in South Walsham at the heart of the Norfolk Broads We are open all year round (except Christmas Day). The garden is a natural woodland with ancient trees, including the King Oak, a sapling at the time of the Battle of Hastings and the Queen Oak. There are more than 3.5 miles of paths to explore and a private broad, with boat trips from Spring to Autumn. Visit us in the Spring to see our beautiful daffodils, primroses, white wood anemones, bluebells, rhododendrons, azaleas and our renowned candelabra primulas. In the Summer the garden is blooming with hydrangeas and wild flowers which give way to fabulous colours and fungi in the Autumn and in the Winter the garden is the perfect setting for bracing walks.

We have free parking and hold regular events held in the garden - see website for full details. We also have a beautifully stocked gift shop - perfect for locally produced produce and gifts.

Visit our friendly cafe (no garden entry ticket required) for breakfast from 9am - 11.30am, lunches from 12pm - 3pm or just a drink and slice of cake after your walk - cafe is open until 4pm (October - March) and 5pm (April - September and until 9pm on Wednesdays from May - August)

  • Accessibility: The Cafe has level access and an accessible toilet. Much of the garden is level access but tree roots can be difficult to navigate with wheelchairs or powered mobility scooters. There are also two bridges across the waterways that are too steep to cross with wheelchairs or scooters. We have an accessible boat and the quay heading has ramped access.
