Details

Suffolk's Cathedral, in the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, only became a cathedral in 1914 but nevertheless has a long and rich history. Once part of the great Abbey of St Edmund, a major centre of pilgrimage in medieval England, the Cathedral has developed from the parish church of St James to the inspiring building it is today, which sits at the heart of the community with the iconic Millennium Tower dominating the skyline of the town. Situated alongside the award-winning Abbey Gardens, a visit to the Cathedral and the town of Bury St Edmunds offers the perfect mix of heritage, retail and relaxation for the discerning visitor.

Take a tour, enjoy refreshments in the newly refurbished restaurant, or browse for gifts in the Cathedral Shop. Check the website for details of special events, exhibitions and concerts.

We offer all who come to St Edmundsbury Cathedral a very warm welcome.
