Kentwell Hall Tudor House & Gardens

Kentwell Hall one of England's finest Tudor houses.

Address

Long Melford,
Sudbury,
Suffolk,
CO10 9BA

Details

Kentwell Hall is not a stately home but Tudor house and a very much a lived-in and loved family home, something it has been for over 500 years.

It is also a project - for over 35 years now a non-stop effort to save this beautiful House, re-create its Gardens and form a traditional style Farm.

For the visitor it is a journey through nearly thirty rooms; from the Great Kitchen with its Tudor history, charcoal burning stove, set in the Bay Window to the open spit (thought to have come from Guy Fawkes's home), through the Great Hall with a Minstrel's Gallery.

Every room in Kentwell Hall offers a truly spectacular theme including the State and Chinese bedroom, the main bathroom with its mosaic floor and giant marble bath.

Outside from the main house, the old Moat House includes the Tudor Bakery, Needle room and Brewhouse.

And if you still have time, a walk through the gardens and grounds will take you to the Merchants Hall & Alehouse where you will see amazing paintings on the wall.

This is a wonderful family day out and children can enjoy the Story Book Trail and Heffalump Path.
