Wild West-Set Panto A Huge Hit In The East

16 January 2017

Wayne Sleep in the Wild West helped make this year’s Norwich Theatre Royal pantomime a huge success. Jack and The Beanstalk, which featured a star cast headed by the renowned dancer and performer, proved popular with all ages.
61,200 people saw the show which generated a record-breaking £1,087,670 in ticket sales, an increase on last year’s previous record of £1,072,236.
The panto also won glowing praise from audiences and critics alike thanks to a strong cast starring opposite Wayne including panto stalwart Richard Gauntlett who wrote and directed the show as well as playing Dame Nigella Trottalot, comedy favourite Ben Langley as the always-energetic Silly Billy, Norwich’s own Harriet Bunton as Dolly the Fairy, popular West End performer David Burilin in the title role, and distinguished character actor David Gant as Sheriff Phil Hiccup with songstress Mira Ormala as Jolene.

Exuberance is Beauty David Holgate Retrospective The Hostry Norwich Cathedral

13 January 2017

Norfolk Contemporary Art Society, Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society and Norwich Twenty Group are combining to stage an exhibition at The Hostry, Norwich Cathedral, from 21 January to 26 February 2017, celebrating the life of David Holgate. David, who died in 2014, was an active member of all three arts organisations. The title of the show, Exuberance is Beauty, is taken from one of his exquisite pieces of letter carving. An accomplished musician, sculptor, calligrapher and an innovative teacher, David’s life and work seemed to be united in a brave and inexhaustible search for meaning and beauty in everything he did.
