Beccles Lido

Swim in the open air at Beccles Lido from 26 May

Nothing beats swimming outdoors so why not visit Beccles Lido, the heated open-air swimming pool in Beccles?

Since taking over from the Council in 2010, the site has been transformed and is now a top Waveney attraction, winning many awards and a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence every year since 2014. The Lido has a slide, springboard, giant inflatable aquarun (daily lunchtime sessions), outdoor exercise equipment and a kiddies adventure play area. There are lots of grassy areas, sunloungers, tables and chairs to relax on as well as an all-weather eating and spectating area. By the River Waveney, the Lido enjoys stunning views across the river and the Waveney valley and its café serves hot and cold snacks, drinks and ices. With lane swimming until 10am and most lunchtimes and evenings, Beccles Lido is perfect for a swim or family day out. Canoe Hire is also offered (advance bookings only). Parking at the Lido is limited but there are numerous car parks nearby, or why not travel by bus or train for discounted entry! Open from 26 May to 9 September. Find out more at www.beccleslido.com or call 01502 713297.

Or if you prefer a lazy day, why not take a trip on Big Dog Ferry, which runs passenger boat trips regularly between Beccles Lido and Geldeston Locks Inn. It is a relaxing 3 mile boat journey along the River Waveney with the opportunity to enjoy the wildlife en-route – otters, kingfishers and marsh harriers are all regular sights along the river. Disembark and enjoy a meal, a drink or music at The Locks Inn or stay on board for a round trip. If you’re feeling energetic you could take a one-way ticket and walk back on delightful footpaths. Big Dog can also stop at the Marina or Three Rivers Campsite at Geldeston, which has attractions including the Wherry Inn and Mandy’s Famous Pickles! Open from 30 March to October. Find out more at www.bigdogferry.co.uk or call 07532 072761.
